Dolly Parton Donates $1 Million to Vanderbilt to Help Coronavirus Research

Dolly Parton is doing her part to fight Coronavirus. She just pledged $1 million to Vanderbilt for their COVID-19 research and she shared the news on social media, to hopefully inspire more donations.

“My longtime friend Dr. Naji Abumrad, who’s been involved in research at Vanderbilt for many years, informed me that they were making some exciting advancements towards research of the coronavirus for a cure,” she shares. “I am making a donation of $1 million to Vanderbilt towards that research and to encourage people that can afford it to make donations.”

She shared the post along with her own signature under “keep the faith.”

Find out more about COVID-19 and Vanderbilt’s efforts through their official page about the pandemic.

Aside from donating monetarily, Parton is also raising spirits by donating her time. She’s also hosting a weekly web series called Goodnight with Dolly, where she’ll read bedtime stories to kids (and their parents!). You can watch the web series on various platforms including YouTube.
