Psychedelic rockers, Dead Meadow, are gearing up for a big year! The band is prepping for new music and a tour — they’ll play Nashville in March.
Dead Meadow will drop a new album, The Nothing They Need, via XEMU Records on March 2. With this record, the band’s Steve Kille and Jason Simon celebrate an impressive 20 years together. To commemorate the momentous occasion, the album includes everyone that has been involved with the group through the years. They’re joined by former drummers and Cory Shane joins them on guitar. The Nothing They Need was even recorded in their personal studio and rehearsal space, The Wiggle Room.
The forthcoming record is “a surreal journey,” an escape but there’s also an underlying apocalyptic theme.
“I think there is a touch of apocalyptic vibes to the new album especially with the cover art that is being assembled,” Kille explains. “There is so much rhetoric and negative energy in the bigger picture of the world it is hard to not to have that show through in art. Though in the small world of people I know and we meet on tour everyone is still just as optimistic though it gets harder every day… I think a lot of the album’s lyrics mirror that sentiment.”
Fans can get a taste for the new music through the first single, “Keep Your Head,” which was just released. It wouldn’t be a new album without a tour. To celebrate the new music, Dead Meadow are hitting the road. The tour kicked off Jan. 27 in L.A. and they’ll stop here in Nashville at Springwater on March 9.
