Tonight (Jan. 8) at 4:30 PM, Culaccino Italian Restaurant opens its doors in downtown Franklin. We got a sneak peek before they opened — here’s what we thought.
Culaccino is executive chef and owner Frank Pallara’s first solo concept. Pallara has more than two decades of experience under his belt and it shows in this Italian spot. Not only is the food spectacular but the servers are attentive and knowledgable. The beautiful restaurant boasts a spacious bar (with an extensive wine list) and spacious outdoor dining area for warmer weather. The attention to detail in this spot is impressive, to say the least.
When we taste-tested at Culaccino, we enjoyed every part of our meal but there were a few standouts. Before the meal begins, they serve house-made ricotta with warm french bread. It’s an ideal way to start any meal. As far as our entrees, we highly recommend the mafalde (rock shrimp, basil pesto, green beans, pine nuts and parmigiano) and the risotto (cauliflower, pancetta. anchovy, parmigiano, bottarga and chive mollica). We’ve also heard incredible things about the tonnarelli. If you’re in the mood for a pizza, you can’t go wrong with these pies that ferment for 72 hours.
Don’t leave before trying the tiramisu (ladyfingers, borghetti caffe espresso liquor, mascarpone and cocoa). Trust us on this one.
The new restaurant now open on West Main Street in Franklin. There’s ample parking in both free and paid parking garages. See their hours, menu and more here.
