Mark Wills is the newest member of the Opry! Craig Morgan welcomed him to the family over the weekend during a sold-out performance at the Ryman. Morgan has been a member of the Opry for 10 years.
“It’s a great honor to be a part of this family as the cornerstone of our format and I’m proud to be here to welcome you,” Morgan said to his longtime friend. He then jokingly added, “And I love knowing I will forever be embedded in your mind as part of your memory from tonight.”
“I thought many, many times what it would be like to have a good friend be the one who would induct me as a member of the Opry,” Wills explained. “Craig, you are a hero of mine and I will forever be indebted to you.”
He also added that he was thrilled to “make my own piece of history and it couldn’t happen at a better place than the Ryman.”
Sally Williams, the senior vice president, programming and artist relations/Opry general manager, also had a lot to say about Wills. “It’s a great honor to be a part of this family as the cornerstone of our format and I’m proud to be here to welcome you.”
Congratulations to Wills on this huge honor!
Terri Clark, Vince Gill, Dustin Lynch, William Michael Morgan, Eric Paslay, Ricky Skaggs and Steve Wariner are just a few of the artists scheduled to perform on the Opry soon. See the full calendar here.
