CMT is honoring Coronavirus heroes with a tribute featuring country music stars. They will host CMT Celebrates Our Heroes on June 3.
The virtual celebration will feature tributes, shout outs and performances from country music’s finest. Brothers Osborne, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett, Little Big Town, Lady Antebellum, Florida Georgia Line and Kelsea Ballerini will appear during the special and more artists will be announced later. They all filmed their parts from their homes and CMT produced them virtually.
This date was originally reserved for the CMT Artists of the Year show but, now, they’re using that date to pay tribute to those on the frontlines.
According to the network’s website, they will honor heroes from a variety of different fields. They’ll pay tribute to healthcare workers, those in the food industry, our military and first responders. They will also honor those who are using their businesses to “provide ventilators, personal protective equipment and hand sanitizers, along with scientists who are racing the clock to develop effective treatments that will stem the tide until a vaccine is perfected.” Educators, delivery drivers and more will also be shouted out during the special night.
“The CMT Artists of the Year franchise has always been reflective of the important issues of our time and, this year, we all felt it necessary to shift our focus to honoring the real heroes during these unprecedented times,” CMT’s Vice President of Music & Talent, Leslie Fram, says.
CMT Celebrates Our Heroes airs on CMT on June 3 at 7 PM.
