Chelsea Gill‘s heartwarming new video is a gentle reminder of the importance of being true to yourself, even when faced with insecurities.
Country singer-songwriter Gill’s new video will give even the hardest heart a few feels. In the three minute clip, we see a mother-daughter duo spend some quality time together. Strung between moments of Gill singing with her guitar, the daughter watches her mom’s every move and mimics them. While that may be sweet, it isn’t when the mom’s mini me takes on her own insecurities.
Even Gill faces these insecurities, which is why she released the song.
“Of course we all have things we want to change about ourselves, but in general I do feel more comfortable in my own skin than I ever have. I’m not a size 0. Heck, I’m not a size 2 either,” she told APlus. “I’m in my late 20s and still fight breakouts. I have cellulite. I have wrinkles. And some days I feel gross in any outfit I put on. But I know that none of those little imperfections change my identity or worth. I feel strong, I feel confident, and I’m proud of who I am.”
The music video for “Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful” ends with an important reminder. The white text reminds viewers to be original, unique, fearless, bold, etc. It ends powerfully by simply saying, “Be You” before transitioning to spell out the song’s name.
