The Chainsmokers Light Up Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena | Review

Nashville was in a for a fiery treat on Sunday night (Oct. 20) when The Chainsmokers brought their World War Joy Tour 2019 to Bridgestone Arena.

Lennon Stella opened the show for the EDM-pop duo before 5 Seconds of Summer took the stage. Their set included their biggest hits including “Youngblood.” The crowd screamed like it was a 1990s Hanson set, excited to see the pop boy band that can really rock.

Around 9 PM, the lights dimmed, red lights beamed from the stage as the music started and smoke filled the arena. The Chainsmokers eventually walked on stage, carrying torches with fire before Alex Pall got in his DJ booth and Drew Taggart jumped on the catwalk. They played a brief DJ set before eventually starting with “Takeaway,” where Stella joined them on vocals.

Their entire set was high-energy with a levitating cage, motorcycles and tons of pyro. When they played “Don’t Let Me Down,” the pyro went even wilder — and so did the crowd. Nashville also got a sneak peek of a brand new song, which Taggart said he was “nervous” to perform for the Music City crowd.

Matt McGuire (drums) was another huge highlight of the epic night. At one point, he was performing on a levitating stage with his drumsticks on fire. He didn’t miss a beat during the memorable drum solo and you must see it. Watch the clip below.

Other highlights of the Nashville tour stop included 5 Seconds of Summer joining The Chainsmokers for “Who Do You Love,” motorcycles flying through the air for “Hope” and a huge surprise (that Music City wished for) when Kelsea Ballerini surprised the audience. She joined the duo for “This Feeling.”

The Chainsmokers tour continues through the end of the year. If they’re coming to your town or a city near you, you’ll definitely want to check them out. Find tour dates here.
