The 2017 Billboard Music Awards had music newcomers, legends and two beautiful tributes. It was a night to remember but these were the standout moments.
When the BBMAs aired live from Las Vegas on Sunday night, they got everyone talking on social media. Fans were buzzing about fashion, Drake’s multiple wins, Nicki Minaj‘s lengthy performance — and so much more. Although it was a night to remember, these were the standout moments from the night.
Standout Moments From the 2017 BBMAs:
Blake Giving Gwen a Standing O

When Gwen Stefani took the stage to introduce Cher, Blake Shelton gave her a standing ovation — just for walking. The moment caused a buzz on social media with tons of fans tweeting that they were #relationshipgoals.
Sam Hunt’s Stripped Down Performance

Sam Hunt brought “Body Like a Back Road” to the 2017 BBMAs. He started off serenading the crowd with only his guitar and his vocals were as smooth as butter. Watch the full performance here.
Drake’s Acceptance Speech

When Drake accepted his 12th award, he turned the attention to some other stars. He let Vanessa Hudgens know she looked “amazing” and shut down some previous beef with Luda. He told the rapper, “I got a lot of love for you.”
FGL and John Legend’s Impressive Collab

The Florida Georgia Line/John Legend collaboration was a risky one and somehow it worked. Legend started the performance with only his piano before FGL joined him to collaborate on their song, “H.O.L.Y.” It was one of the most surprising performances of the night.
Julia Michaels’ Emotional Debut

Julia Michaels may have a few “Issues,” but performing her ass off isn’t one of them. She made her BBMAs debut on Sunday night with an emotional (and breathy) performance of her smash single.
BTS’ Big Win

BTS were the first K-Pop band to ever be nominated for a Billboard Award — and they won! The boyband snagged Top Social Artist beating out Selena Gomez, Shawn Mendes, Ariana Grande and even Justin Bieber.
Miley’s Incredible Comeback

Miley Cyrus wore pants “for the first time in years” but her comeback performance was so much more than that. She proved that she’s serious about her music and that her talent is undeniable. Her performance of “Malibu” was definitely a highlight at the 2017 BBMAs.
Celine Dion’s Titanic Tribute
There aren’t enough words to describe Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” performance so just watch it for yourself.
Cher Turning Back Time

Cher accepted the Icon Award at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards but, before she did, she sang “Believe” and “If I Could Turn Back Time.” Cher proved that, even at 71, she is still a rockstar (and always will be). If that wasn’t enough, she put us all to shame by admitting she can do a “five minute plank.” All hail Queen Cher.
