Barenaked Ladies Announce Cleverly Titled New Album, ‘Fake Nudes’

Fake Nudes may sound like a bad joke but it’s the forthcoming album from the Barenaked Ladies. The 14-track record drops on Nov. 14 on Vanguard Records.

The album is the 15th for the band that’s been nominated for Grammy Awards and sold over 14 million albums. It finds Ed Robertson, Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn and Tyler Stewart in impeccable form. After all these years, their musician friendship and camaraderie still remains and you can hear it on the record.

“I’m incredibly proud of this collection of songs. This is a record where all band members shine,” Robertson explains. “It’s incredible to feel so excited about something 29 years into our career. I’m excited to get out and play these songs live.”

Fake Nudes was produced by the award-winning Gavin Brown, who has worked with BNL on several projects in the past. The album features songs written by Robertson, Hearn and Creeggan but the lead-off single features some other familiar names. “Lookin’ Up” was written by Robertson, Kevin Griffin (from Better Than Ezra) and Sam Hollander (who has co-written with Weezer, Fitz and the Tantrums and Train).

Barenaked Ladies are celebrating the new music with a Canadian tour followed by a US tour. The US portion is expected to happen in 2018 but more information will be posted to their website as it becomes available.
