Bad Idea Coming to Former East Nashville Church Sanctuary

Bad Idea is getting ready to open its doors in East Nashville, in a former church. The restaurant comes from CMS Advanced Sommelier Alex Burch.

Burch created a new spot where wine lovers can go for a good glass of wine. They make wine approachable and even strive to double as a place for wine education. Bad Idea has a custom wine cellar with a wine list that features around 125 wines at a top.

Of course, you can’t have all that delicious wine without a great menu to pair it with. To help with the culinary side, Burch brought on Chef Colby Rasavong. He drew on his Lao-American heritage to inspire the menu which features two of my personal favorites, a Scallop-Stuffed Crepe with nam prik blanquette and laced tuile (it had an unexpected and perfect kick at the end) and Nam Khao Croquettes served with Jeow Mak Len, a Lao tomato dipping sauce. The croquettes are an elevated (and addictive) comfort food.

Bad Idea is located at 1021 Russell Street. Reservations are available to be made online through Tock, and walk-ins are always welcome. Keep coming back to Nashville Noise for an expected opening date from Bad Idea.
