The ACM Awards are moving! The 2020 award show is coming to Nashville for the first time ever. The announcement was made a month after the show was officially postponed from its original date.
The 55th Academy of Country Music Awards will air live from Music City on Sept. 16. The show will feature performances from three famous Nashville locations: Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium and Bluebird Cafe. Keith Urban will still host.
“While we were disappointed to postpone our April show in Las Vegas, we couldn’t be more thrilled to host the rescheduled 55th ACM Awards in the home of country music for the first time in the Academy’s history,” Academy CEO Damon Whiteside says (quote via Country Aircheck). “First and foremost, we want to ensure the safety of our artists and industry and to ease the burdens of traveling large teams; therefore, we have decided to bring the ACM Awards to them.”
Although this decision has been finalized, there is still no decision on live audiences. They will make that announcement as the award show date grows closer.
