Nashville Film Festival Reveals Dates, New Music Video Category

Nashville Film Festival (NashFilm) is returning for the 2023 season from Sept. 28 to Oct. 4 and this year, they’ll have new competitions and a brand new music video category. This is the 54th season and will take place at various venues across the area.

They’ve expanded the festival but you can still expect engaging post-film Q&As, industry panels, live music and events. There will be more than 125 screenings that will take place at some of our favorite spots like The Belcourt Theater, the Franklin Theatre, Regal Green Hills, Vanderbilt’s Rothschild Black Box Theater and Sarratt Cinema.

“We are proud to bring an unforgettable experience celebrating the innovation and immense talent of the filmmakers, screenwriters and music makers of our global and local arts landscape,” Nashville Film Festival’s Executive Director Jason Padgitt says. “With over fifty years of sharing films with Nashville audiences, we are excited to continue building a community of film lovers in some of the most impressive venues throughout the area.”

Another new aspect for this year is the NashFilm Episodic Competition, in partnership with the Catalyst Story Institute of Nashville. According to a press release it’s a “a two-day showcase of the best in independent television, podcasts, and web series which will be screened in Pitch World during the festival. The competition aims to champion episodic storytellers of all career levels as they develop their stories and advance their careers while lowering the barriers between creators, producers, and the industry.”
