On Sunday night, the Country Music Hall of Fame inducted Ricky Skaggs, Dottie West and the late Johhny Gimble.
The Hall of Fame’s Medallion Ceremony is a special one every year and each inductee is inducted following a video tribute. The ceremony is emotional and gives the HOF time to brag on each of the inductee’s accomplishments from over the years.
Watch each of the videos below.
Johnny Gimble
In the video, Gimble is referred to as the “finest fiddle player in the world.” The video discusses Gimble’s early playing days and early inspirations as well all of the artists he played for over the years. That impressive list includes Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard.
Ricky Skaggs
“Music was his frame board,” the video on Skaggs says of his early days in Kentucky. For him, it all started with a mandolin his father gave him as a child. In the 1980s, he signed a solo record deal that brought traditional country music into a more modern-day era. He recorded his own music and brought his inspirations into the music with him.
Dottie West
West started in a troubled childhood but she was able to overcome with music — and her guitar. “Here Comes My Baby” became one of West’s signature songs and even won her a Grammy Award. She was never afraid to chase her dreams, including one of singing a duet with the legendary Kenny Rogers.
Congratulations to the 2018 class of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
